On top of Last Stand Hill at Little Bighorn Battlefield there is a memorial to the 7th US Cavalry. In 1879 a temporary monument of stacked logs was erected on Last Stand Hill. A new permanent monument built of granite was erected in 1881. Custer's body was found within 6 feet of this spot.
