The Main Hall of the Senso-ji complex is not especially impressive architecturally, especially after passing through the Hozo-mon.  But it is dedicated to the goddess Kannon and it is universally loved by the Japanese people.  The huge lantern was donated by the nearby Geisha associations, and Kabuki actors as well as sumo wrestlers visit here before performances to pay their respects.
