One of the most beautiful spots in all of Japan, this is Kinkaku-ji (The Temple of the Golden Pavilion).  It was built by the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu (1358-1409) for his retirement.  It was intended to illustrate the harmony between Heaven and Earth.  We think it does just that.
