Along the southern shore of Lake Mývatn, there are a number of interesting pseudocraters.  A pseudocrater is a volcanic landform which resembles a true volcanic crater, but differs in that it is not a vent from which lava has erupted.  Instead, they are formed by steam explosions as flowing hot lava crosses a lake.
