Quito, Ecuador 2008

The sprawling city of Quito, Ecuador (population 1.8 million in 2007) is one of the highest capital cities in the world located at 2,850 meters (9,300 feet) above sea level.  Nestled in a valley between mountains and volcanoes, it looks and feels very much like Medellin, Colombia.  The weather is cool and constant all year round.  Only one city in Ecuador is larger - Guayaquil is home to 3.2 million.
