Quito, Ecuador 2008

La Mitad del Mundo monument is quite impressive, and supposedly marks the equatorial line at 0 degrees, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds latitude.  However, it turns out that the scientists calculations in those days were not quite as accurate as GPS (Global Positional Satellites) and the actual equator is a few hundred feet away in the hills!  That's Pam in the center of the plaza, about to climb to the top of the monument.
