She may not look very big but she is the real thing – half human, half fish, a sea creature with woman’s head, bust and fish’s tail – dreaming of her prince and gazing longingly towards land and the human race which she so desperately wants to become a part of.  The Little Mermaid has often been the victim of vandalism, being knocked off her perch or having her head sawed off in the middle of the night!
