Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 2006

The aquaduct in Rio de Janeiro is known as the Carioca Arches, or sometimes the Arches of Lapa (because it used to be the gateway to the working class neighborhood of Lapa).  The only surviving tram line in the city goes right across the top - but it wasn't operating while we were there due to a prolonged strike.  You can see the funnel-shaped Metropolitan Cathedral behind the arches.
