| Coney Island was the largest amusement area in the United States between 1880 and World War II - attracting several million visitors per year. The most famous attraction has to be the Wonder Wheel, built in 1918 and opened in 1920. Note that the inside cars are on a track and swing out to the outside as the Wheel turns. |
