| Probably the most recognized landmark along Monterey's "Cannery Row" is the old Monterey Canning Company. The street that was immortalized by John Steinbeck's novel in 1945 was transformed shortly afterwards when the sardines disappeared from the bay. All the old tin-roofed canneries closed and have been converted to restaurants, art galleries, and shopping malls. |
