| Over in Left Field at Fenway Park stands the imposing "Green Monster", the wall that stands 37 feet tall and is 240 feet long. The wall has a hand-operated scoreboard and a ladder to retrieve balls caught in the top webbing. Built to prevent cheap home runs, it has stood silently in place since April 20, 1912. When Fenway Park is eventually torn down in the name of progress, the "Green Monster" will be preserved and moved into the new stadium to continue the tradition. |
