Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania 2010

Another of the Big Five game animals, the Black Rhino is not actually black.  It was given the designation 'black' to distinguish it from the White Rhinoceros - but that rhino isn't white!  It was a mistranslation from the Dutch word wijd which means "wide" and referred to the square upper lip.   In the wild, the two species are not distinguishable by color, but by the shape of their lip.
