| The entire upper level of the main shrine was packed with worshippers. They come here to be close to the relic of the tooth of Buddha. It's nearly impossible to overestimate the importance of this temple to most Sri Lankan Buddhists, who believe they must complete at least one pilgrimage to the temple in their lifetime. Worshipping at the temple is thought to improve one's karmic lot immeasurably. |
