This is the ornate Winter Palace of Peter The Great in St. Petersburg, viewed from across Dvortsovaya Ploschad (Palace Square). Alexander's Column is in the center of this square, well known as the place on Bloody Sunday in 1905 where peaceful demonstrators, women and children were killed by palace troops. The palace is now part of the Hermitage Museum, one of the most extensive collections of international art on the planet.
