Russia

St. Basil's Cathedral stands elegantly at one end of Red Square in Moscow. It was commissioned by Ivan the Terrible and built in the mid-1500's. There are eight tower-like chapels, each crowned by a spectacular onion dome carved with it's own distinct pattern and dedicated to a saint on whose day the Russian army won battles against the Tatars. It is an amazing sight, one of our most memorable.
