Russia

Here we are standing in Red Square, Krasnaya Ploshchad in Russian. World-famous for the military parades staged here during the Soviet era, it was originally a marketplace. The red pyramid-shaped building in the foreground is the Lenin Mausoleum, tucked up against the red brick walls of the Kremlin and one of it's largest clock towers. St. Basil's cathedral is at the far end of the square. Interestingly, the square is not "Red" because of communism or the Bolshevik revolution..... "Krasny" in Russian simply means "beautiful"!
