Stacy and I rubbed shoulders with Meredith Vieira, the original moderator or the ABC talk program The View and former co-host of the popular NBC Today Show. She was in the audience with us at "Relatively Speaking" on Broadway, December 2011.
We also had the opportunity to meet Marlo Thomas who was starring in "Relatively Speaking". She'll always be "That Girl" to me! December, 2011.
Of course, where Marlo Thomas goes, so goes her husband - Phil Donahue! This guy is the quintessential American media personality. He basically invented the talk show - Donahue had a 26-year run before it ended in 1996.
What a scream! I met Gilbert Gottfried after he did a set on stage at Caroline's on Broadway, December, 2011. He really does have that loud, grating tone of voice! Who can forget his delivery of the totally disgusting but hilarious anti-joke "The Aristocrats" at the 2001 Friar's Club roast of Hugh Hefner?
Remember him from "The Hollywood Squares", "The $20,000 Pyramid" and many other TV shows including guest-hosting for Johnny Carson? Well, John Davidson brought his one-man show to Corpus Christi in 2010, and at the age of nearly 69 put on a good show. Afterwards, I enjoyed reminiscing with him!
Me with Penn Jillette, after seeing the Penn & Teller show at the Rio Hotel & Casino, January, 2010. Their show was great, and they were gracious to come out and meet the audience after the show.
Of course, Teller came out to mingle with the crowd after the show too. It was the first time I heard him actually speak! He was very nice.
I ran into John Turturro coming out of the elevator at Claridge's Hotel in London during our stay there in June, 2009.
I shared some laughs with
Greg
Giraldo at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City, May, 2009. Sad Update: Greg Giraldo passed away on September 29, 2010 - the result of an accidental overdose of prescription medicine. He will be missed. R.I.P. |
|
Me and Stacy with actor
Chris
Cooper at the Excelsior Hotel in Dubrovnik, Croatia. He was
there attending the Libertas Film Festival, June 2008. He has been in a lot of movies, but you probably know him from his roles in "American Beauty" and "Breach". |
|
Me with Woody Allen and my sister, Robin Davis. This was in October, 2007 at Café Carlyle where Mr. Allen plays clarinet with the Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band.
Fashion Designer Isaac Mizrahi and me. We both took in Xanadu, the musical on Broadway - October, 2007
Jackie Mason with me and my sister on the streets of New York, October, 2007. He is as funny in person as he is on the stage!
|
|
While dining at Restaurant WD~50, chef and owner Wylie Dufresne came over for a meet & greet with Andrea and me. April, 2007.
That's me towering over actor Danny Woodburn in Tahiti (2007). He was getting off the m/s Paul Gauguin as we were getting on. You might remember him - he's kind of a "big deal" since appearing in quite a few episodes of "Seinfeld" as Kramer's sidekick Mickey Abbott.
We sat at the table next to Harry Shearer while dining at Bayona Restaurant in New Orleans, Labor Day Weekend 2006. After dinner he was gracious enough to pose with me for this photo. I loved his antics on Saturday Night Live, and he plays 17 characters on TV's "The Simpsons". Did you know he made his film debut in 1953 with Bud Abbott and Lou Costello in "Abbott and Costello Go to Mars"?
I had my picture taken with 4-time Iditarod champion Jeff King and one of his puppies, then had him autograph the photo and pose for this one. This was at his "Husky Homestead" in Denali, Alaska, Summer 2006.
John Lithgow was dining at Orso in Midtown Manhattan before his evening performance of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" on October 1, 2005. He was seated two tables over and noticed we were celebrating Irving's 76th birthday. He came over to our table after dinner and briefly visited with us before allowing Randy to take what he called a "Happy-Snap".
I had a nice conversation with Jeff Garlin after bumping into him on the streets of New York (corner of 54th and 7th Avenue, just outside Starbucks). He is so nice! We love watching him opposite Larry David on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm", and we had a good time seeing his stand-up comedy act at Caroline's on Broadway two days before this photo was taken in October, 2005.
Tony Bennett was performing in Las Vegas over the Memorial Day weekend 2005. We didn't see his show, but we did run into him browsing the shops at the new Wynn Las Vegas Esplanade. He still looks (and sounds) great at age 78!
I rode the elevator down from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York with David Hyde Pierce. During our short conversation, I asked if I might have a photo with him -- but he said "no". ;-(
We sat 2 rows behind Blair Underwood while seeing "Wicked" at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway in June 2004. He was soooo nice, and soooo handsome (and soooo sexy!) You might remember him from "L.A. Law", but I'm thinking more about his role as Miranda's boyfriend on "Sex and the City".
Peter Scolari has done quite a bit of acting on TV and in the movies. You probably remember his part in the 80's hit "Bosom Buddies". We saw him in "Sly Fox" on Broadway in the summer of 2004.
Katie Couric made time to visit with just about everyone who wanted to say hello on the set of "The Today Show". Summer 2004. She became the first woman anchor for the CBS Evening News in September 2006.
Ann Curry also took a moment to mix with the tourists while filming "The Today Show" on NBC. Summer 2004.
Garry Shandling was sitting across the aisle from me at the April 2005 performance of Monty Python's "Spamalot" on Broadway. We talked, but a photo was not possible inside the theatre.
Another famous TV star was in the audience watching "Wicked" on Broadway: Judith Light. Remember "Who's the Boss?" and "One Life to Live"?
Me and Randy with Bill Cosby. We were guests of Susan & Bobby Epstein at a fundraiser for the Austin Jewish Community Center.
Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Wolfgang Puck came over to say hello to Andrea and me while dining at his restaurant "Spago" in Beverly Hills. Fall 2001.
Willie Nelson and me at Camp Champions, Marble Falls, Texas. Our kids went to the same camp!
I just got Matthew Broderick's autograph! He was terrific on this night in "The Producers" on Broadway in 2001.
Michael Constantine was on our cruise through the Greek Isles in 1999. You may remember him from the hit TV show "Room 222", but more recently we loved him in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. "So, there you go!"
James Carville, Me, and Mary Matalin. I met them twice -- once when they came to Corpus Christi to speak, and here at their restaurant "West 24" in Washington, D.C.
This one with Dr. Red Duke was taken in 1986. I was pregnant with Stacy at the time Randy arranged for him to come give a talk at the Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity Meeting.
Gilligan's Island fans will recognize me with Alan Hale, Jr., who played the Skipper opposite Bob Denver. This one was taken in 1983 -- I'm pregnant with Andrea!
Ok, so he's not actually a celebrity -- he's a New York City Cop. But isn't he a hunk?
Here I'm sharing a story with well-known chef Charlie Trotter and his mother, Dona-Lee Trotter. Randy and I celebrated my birthday here at his fabulous restaurant in Chicago. |
Here I am with my favorite President from my home State of Texas, George W. Bush. |
