A Samburu woman milks a goat while a young goat moves in for some too. The diet of these people consists mostly of this milk and some blood from their cows. They collect the blood by making a tiny nick in the jugular of the cow, draining the blood into a cup and then sealing the wound with ash. Meat is only consumed on special occasions. Their diet is supplemented with roots, vegetables and tubers dug up and made into a soup. |
