We had the opportunity to take in a performance of Kabuki (literally "song, dance, act") at this famous place, Kabuki-za (Kabuki Theatre).  This form of entertainment is uniquely Japanese, and all the roles including the female roles are played by men.  Photos were not allowed inside, but it was a memorable experience.  English translation is available (radio headsets), and audience members frequently shout out their appreciation for the performers.
