After the meal, the lights dim and Benvenuto dons a colorful knitted beanie-bobble hat to do his nightly shtick. Part history, part magic show, part exorcism, it is supposedly done to ward off a curse put on the island by an anonymous 12th century poet. It culminates with the 'exorcism of fire' in which a copper pot of brandy is set on fire.
