W.B. Yeats lies buried with his wife, George in this simple grave located in Drumcliff, just north of Sligo town. He actually died in France and because of the political situation at the time he was originally buried there. In his poem "Under Ben Bulben" he specified not only where he wanted to be buried, but also what was to be written on his tombstone: "Cast a cold Eye/On Life, on Death/Horseman, pass by!" |
