Here is Pam at Sarnath's magnificent Dhamekh stupa, built partly of brick and partly of stone around 500 A.D.   It is thought to mark the exact location where the Buddha delivered his first sermon.  It is 43.6 meters high and 228 meters in diameter at the base.  A "stupa" is a spiritual monument.
