As we get ready to board the boat over to the Lake Palace Hotel, you can look south across Lake Pichola to see the other "floating" palace.  Called "Jag Mandir", it was built in the 17th century of yellow sandstone.  Shah Jahan, son of the Moghul emperor Jahangir, took refuge in this palace after leading an unsuccessful revolt against his father.  It is said that the Jag Mandir helped inspire Shah Jahan to build the Taj Mahal.
