This amazing scene is the dhobi-ghats of Bombay.  This is the manual laundry service for the city!  There are some 4,000 washermen (known as dhobi-wallahs) working here daily, starting at about 4 am.  You can see steam billowing from sheds containing huge boiling vats in the back.
