Some 20,000 craftsmen and laborers are said to have worked on it, and there are about 16 million inlaid semiprecious stones! What looks painted on is actually inlaid into the white marble. The red flowers in this section are composed of 6 individually hand-cut stones, and some of the more ornate one-inch flowers contain up to 60 pieces. |
