| Icelanders love their hot dogs ("pylsur"), and they are purported to be the best in the world. This is the most famous hot dog stand in Iceland. Known as Bæjarins beztu pylsur ("Town's Best Hot Dog"), nearly everyone in the country has had one at some time. If you order one all the way ("eina með öllu"), you will get ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onions, raw onions and remolaði, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Former President Bill Clinton once ate here, and if you order a "Clinton" you will get one the way Bill likes it -- with just mustard. |
