| Pam stands behind the statue of Leif Ericson (Old Norse: Leifr Eiriksson) who was regarded as the first European to land in North America (excluding Greenland), nearly 500 years before Christopher Columbus. The inscription says he was the discoverer of Vinland, a Norse settlement which has been tentatively identified as L'anse aux Meadows on the northern tip of the island of Newfoundland. |
