| Drift ice is not the same as icebergs -- the latter are chunks of ice shelves or glaciers that calve into the ocean. These are chunks of sea ice formed by the freezing of seawater which melts and breaks up in the warmer season. In the winter, the inlet freezes over and you can travel long distances via dogsled over the frozen waterways. |
