That's our rental car passing out through Narbonne Gate. As a result of staying at Hôtel de la Cité, we were one of the few allowed to actually drive into the old city. Even then, you're only allowed to drive the narrow streets of the city before 9 am and after 5 pm. Here, we're leaving in the morning before the tourists arrive, but when we first drove into the city at 6 pm it was a scream! The narrow, cobbled streets were busy with tourists and we had to creep along toward the hotel as people flattened themselves to the walls along the route. Another memorable moment! |
