Inside the protective walls of Carcassonne is the Château Comtal, originally built in 1125. Note the wooden rampart extensions on the right which once circled the entire city. The Kevin Costner film "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" was filmed here, and the château played the part of "Nottingham Castle". |
