Bordeaux is the world's major wine industry capital, and located close to the European Atlantic coast, on a bend of the river Garonne. Like Paris, it has a right bank and a left bank, and there are four road bridges crossing the river. This is the most famous, the Pont de pierre (Stone Bridge), built in the 1820's. |
