The Great Pyramid of Cheops was built around 2500 BC. It is the only remaining of the original seven wonders of the world. It is composed of 2.3 million limestone blocks, each weighing an average of 2.75 tons -- 6.8 million tons in all! Originally 482 feet tall, it took man nearly 4,400 years to surpass it's height (with the Eiffel Tower in 1886 AD). |
