Colombia 2006

Medellín is the second-largest city in Colombia, home to nearly 4 million people (Bogotá has 8 million residents).  The city is nestled in a valley of the Andes mountains just 4 degrees north of the equator - and at more than 5,000 feet above sea level the city enjoys springtime weather year-round.  Known as the center of the cocaine world at one time, drug lord Pablo Escobar and the Medellín cartel are long gone.  Today, the modern city has an economy based on textiles and coffee.  Randy took this from the El Tesoro Shopping Center overlooking the central valley.
