Yangtze - Three Gorges 2002

Dusk at the Three Gorges Dam site.  Even at this deceptive angle, the dam seems to stretch on into the distance.  At 607 feet high and 1.4 miles in length, the dam is just as long as the Golden Gate Bridge, and twice as tall!  (As a comparison, the Hoover Dam is less than a quarter mile long).  This project will forever change the landscape in China, creating a reservoir on the Yangtze nearly 400 miles long and making it necessary to relocate 1.5 million people!
