The Three Gorges Dam is the world's largest construction project.  It is so large, only a portion of it is captured in each photo.  The temporary diversion channel (left) will be closed off in November (2002) and the reservoir level will soon rise to the 135 meter mark.  After completion, the final water level will be 175 meters above sea level (2007).
