Randy is standing in the main courtyard of the Drepung Monastery. The building behind him is Ganden Phodrang, built in 1518 by the 2nd Dalai Lama. It served as the chief residence and governmental palace until the Potala Palace was built by the Great 5th Dalai Lama.
