| Nowhere is the stunning beauty of Angkor Wat more awe-inspiring than alongside the reflecting pools on the west side. Here you begin to appreciate what it took to build such a structure 900 years ago, without any heavy equipment. Every one of the sandstone blocks had to be quarried 30 miles away and floated down the river to the site. Remember that Angkor Wat is only the most imposing of many temples in the City of Angkor which covers more than 60 square miles!! |
