| Wat Phnom is a temple built on the only hill in the area. It is said that in the 1400's, an old woman named "Penh" found 4 images of Buddha along the banks of the Mekong nearby, and she stored them here - thus the city became known as Phnom Penh ("Hill of Penh"). |
