| The Khmer Rouge used these gallows to hang prisoners until they lost consciousness. Then they would dip the victims heads into the pots filled with filthy sewage water to revive them. The last 14 victims of this prison were tortured to death on site (rather than at The Killing Fields) as Vietnamese forces closed in to liberate Phnom Penh. Their graves are seen in the courtyard behind the gallows. |
