Gangtey, Bhutan

The Black-necked Crane is a medium-sized crane (12 pounds) with a black head, red crown patch, black upper neck and legs, and a white patch to the rear of the eye.  They summer in the high altitude of the Tibetan Plateau and winter in sheltered valleys like here in Gangtey or in lower altitudes in China and India.  There are about 10,000 birds left in the world.
